Lima's Marcha del Orgullo is one of South America's most politically charged Pride marches, held in a country where same-sex marriage remains unrecognised, and LGBTQ+ discrimination still lacks full legal protection. Every June, tens of thousands march from Campo de Marte in Jesús María through central Lima, turning Avenida de la Peruanidad into a river of flags and resistance. It is both a celebration and a demand.

Lima has a visible and growing queer scene, particularly in Miraflores and Barranco, where most LGBTQ+-friendly bars, clubs, and accommodations are concentrated. Outside of these neighbourhoods, public displays of affection may attract attention, so it's worth being aware of your surroundings. During Pride week, the city is welcoming, and the atmosphere in the centre is celebratory.
The Marcha del Orgullo Lima is Peru's largest LGBTQ+ Pride event, held annually in late June. The march draws tens of thousands of participants and takes a route of approximately 4 kilometres through central Lima. It combines celebration with political advocacy, marchers include community groups, activists, and allies calling for legal equality and anti-discrimination protections.
The Lima Pride parade typically begins at Campo de Marte in the Jesús María district and follows Avenida de la Peruanidad into central Lima, ending at Plaza San Martín. The pre-march gathering at Campo de Marte starts in the morning, with the march itself departing in the afternoon.
Miraflores is the most practical base for LGBTQ+ travellers, it's Lima's safest and most visitor-friendly neighbourhood, with good transport links to the march route and close to the queer nightlife scene in Barranco. Barranco itself is Lima's creative and bohemian district and hosts several of the city's best LGBTQ+ bars and clubs.
Lima is served by Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM), located in the Callao district. It has direct connections from major hubs across North America, Europe, and Latin America. The airport is approximately 45 minutes by taxi or ride-share from Miraflores, depending on traffic.
