CSD Düsseldorf is one of the few Pride events in Germany that runs across a full four days, with a street festival at Johannes-Rau-Platz at its centre. The city's Altstadt, a dense grid of bars, restaurants, and waterfront terraces along the Rhine, turns into the natural backdrop for the celebrations, and Düsseldorf's reputation as one of Germany's most stylish and liveable cities makes it an easy place to spend a long Pride weekend.

Yes! Germany is one of the most LGBTQ+ inclusive countries in Europe, having legalised same-sex marriage in 2017, and Düsseldorf reflects that openness well. The city has a welcoming, visible queer scene concentrated in the Altstadt, with LGBTQ+-friendly bars, clubs, and cultural spaces active year-round. CSD Düsseldorf also receives backing from city officials, which is a strong signal of institutional acceptance.
CSD stands for Christopher Street Day, the German term for Pride, rooted in the 1969 Stonewall Uprising on Christopher Street in New York. CSD Düsseldorf has been running since 2004, when the queer community held its first street festival on Schadowplatz, and it has grown into one of the most significant LGBTQ+ events in North Rhine-Westphalia. The event spans four days, combining a political Demonstration, a free outdoor street festival, a memorial church service, and a programme of parties and cultural events.
The festival hub is Johannes-Rau-Platz in the city centre, with the Demonstration (parade) moving through Düsseldorf's streets. The parade route typically passes through the Altstadt and along major central streets before finishing near the Rathaus or the Rheinuferpromenade. Staying in or near the Altstadt puts you within easy walking distance of the main action.
Hotels in the Altstadt and city centre book up quickly around CSD weekend, the earlier you book, the better your options and pricing. The parade on 6 June and the outdoor street festival are free to attend, but specific parties and club nights often require tickets that sell out in advance, so check event listings early. Flights into Düsseldorf International (DUS) are worth locking in once you've confirmed your dates, as June is peak travel season across Germany.
Düsseldorf International Airport (DUS) is one of Germany's busiest airports, with direct connections from across Europe, the US, and the Middle East. It's around 10 minutes from the city centre by the S-Bahn (S11 line). Düsseldorf is also exceptionally well connected by train, ICE services from Cologne take under 30 minutes, from Frankfurt around 1 hour 20 minutes, and from Amsterdam under 2 hours 30 minutes, making it an easy stop on a wider Pride travel itinerary.
