Follow the Rainbow to Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way: Celebrate EuroPride 2028!

The West of Ireland, a land of dramatic coastlines, ancient landscapes, and fierce community spirit, is making history. For the first time ever, EuroPride is coming to Ireland — touching down in Limerick and Clare from 4 to 13 August 2028. Led by Limerick Pride, QuareClare, and The Outing Winter Pride Festival, this is not just a celebration — it's a milestone. With the theme 'Pride in the Community', EuroPride 2028 promises something genuinely different: a rural, rooted, and radically inclusive Pride experience set against the wild beauty of the Atlantic. Come for the parades, stay for the craic, and feel the warmth of an Ireland that voted for love — and means it.

Witness the Spectacle of Pride on the Wild Atlantic Coast

  • EuroPride 2028 Parade and Concert: Join tens of thousands of visitors, activists, artists, and allies as Pride floods the streets of Limerick for one of the most significant LGBTQ+ parades ever held on Irish soil. The parade winds through the heart of Limerick city, a sea of colour, community, and decades of hard-won progress. From Derry to Kerry, this is Ireland united in celebration — and you're invited.
  • The Outing Pride Festival: One of the most unique elements of EuroPride 2028 is the inclusion of The Outing, an established queer arts and culture festival based in County Clare. Expect live performances, film screenings, community events, and the kind of intimate, soulful programming that only a rural Pride can deliver. This is Pride with depth — not just a party, but a movement woven into the landscape of the West.
  • Human Rights Conference: True to EuroPride's DNA, the West of Ireland edition includes a Human Rights Conference, bringing together LGBTQ+ organisations, activists, and policymakers from across Europe. Coming a decade after Ireland became the first country to legalise same-sex marriage by popular vote, the timing carries real weight.

Embrace the Spirit Beyond the Parade and Festival

  • Wild Atlantic Way Road Trip: EuroPride 2028 gives you the perfect excuse to explore one of the world's most spectacular coastal routes. Head west from Limerick into County Clare and you're on the Wild Atlantic Way — 2,500km of rugged cliffs, quiet coves, and ancient stone walls. Drive it, cycle it, or walk sections of it; either way, it's a backdrop unlike anything else in Europe.
  • Cliffs of Moher: No trip to the West of Ireland is complete without standing at the edge of the Cliffs of Moher, 214 metres above the crashing Atlantic. The cliffs stretch for 14km along the Clare coast, and the views across to the Aran Islands and Galway Bay are the kind that stay with you. Pick up a tour from Limerick city or drive yourself — it's less than an hour from the city centre.
  • The Burren: Beyond the cliffs lies the Burren, a vast limestone landscape unlike anywhere else in Ireland. Ancient portal tombs, wildflowers growing from bare rock, and a silence that feels earned. It's a powerful counterpoint to the energy of EuroPride — and worth every minute.

Explore the West of Ireland's Queer Scene

  • Limerick's LGBTQ+ Community: Limerick has been building its LGBTQ+ scene and community since the early 2000s, growing from a small but determined Pride festival into one of Ireland's most spirited queer cities. The community here is grassroots, creative, and deeply local — you'll feel it immediately. Events like Dyke Nite, a beloved queer night that has been drawing crowds from across the country, are a testament to the energy and creativity that put this city on the EuroPride map.
  • Across the City: Limerick's nights out are warm, sociable, and unpretentious. The city centre is compact and walkable, with a strong tradition of live music and pub culture. During EuroPride, expect pop-up queer spaces, club takeovers, and late-night events spread across the city's venues — this is a city that knows how to welcome people in.
  • King John's Castle: Built in the early 13th century on the banks of the River Shannon, King John's Castle is one of the most impressive medieval fortresses in Ireland. Explore its towers and ramparts, take in the river views, and get a sense of just how layered this city's history really is.
  • Bunratty Castle and Folk Park: A short drive from Limerick city, Bunratty Castle is a remarkably well-preserved 15th-century Norman tower house. The surrounding folk park recreates life in rural Ireland — it's vivid, educational, and genuinely good fun. A great option if you're spending a few extra days in the region.
  • Limerick City Nights: When the sun sets over the Shannon, Limerick comes alive. The city's pub and bar scene is unpretentious and welcoming, with live trad sessions, late bars, and a social energy that draws visitors back year after year. During EuroPride, the city's nightlife will scale up significantly — watch official channels for the full programme as the event approaches.
